Non-disclosure is the idea of relinquishing control of discoveries made under the purview of an organization to the governing body of that entity. This is defined on the Laboratory Wiki because many scientists are asked to sign non-disclosure forms and/or to adhere to organization-wide rules governing the management of data acquired using the organization's facilities and resources. This applies to both universities and 501(c) organizations.

The term non-disclosure is also defined here in the interest of deterring editors from posting any information that falls under this definition, as this would be in violation of such rules. Because this wiki is designed as a forum for discussion of personal experience with laboratory techniques, there is the possibility of such a disclosure, necessitating this distinction and warning: any material falling under this definition will be removed without notice.
